Every innovation has a beginning.

Ours started with seaweed, science, and a vision for a healthier planet.

Our Story

We are an agricultural technology company founded in 2018 in New Haven, Connecticut, while the founders were Master's students at Yale University. After joining the HATCH accelerator in 2019, the company established roots in Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi, where the project began to flourish.

In Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi, we developed seaweed-based solutions that improve livestock production while reducing environmental impacts. Our product, SeaGraze®, is a red seaweed feed additive made from Asparagopsis taxiformis that reduces enteric methane emissions by more than 80% while maintaining animal performance.

As Symbrosia has grown, our mission has evolved beyond methane reduction alone…

Today, we focus on helping ranchers and dairy producers improve the profitability and sustainability of their operations by providing a practical tool that can generate measurable methane reductions, unlock access to emerging carbon credit markets, and strengthen long-term farm productivity.

Rather than producers making extensive and costly changes to their existing practices, our product SeaGraze® is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing feeding systems, creating economic value for farmers while delivering meaningful environmental benefits. Through sustainable seaweed cultivation and continued innovation, Symbrosia aims to build a resilient livestock industry where agricultural success and climate stewardship are one in the same.

What Now?

Building on our success in Hawaiʻi, Symbrosia is expanding commercial operations to Bali, Indonesia marking an new exciting chapter for the company.

By increasing cultivation capacity and strengthening its global supply chain, SeaGraze® can reach more producers, reduce methane emissions at scale, and help ranchers and dairy producers strengthen the long-term success of their operations
